The Association with its partners initiates foundation of an agro-industrial cluster on the territory of the North-West Federal District
– more than 270 projects in the 11 regions.
Without fundamental changes in investment climate there can be no transition to large-scale modernization of economy. In Russia in the North-West Federal District the conditions for investment breakthrough are being established.

It’s been 20 years since all the regions of North-West Russia have been cooperating within the frameworks of diverse programmes under the aegis of the Association. These 20 years demonstrated that in the macroregion the Association ahs become a platform, an efficient instrument for implementation of coordinated decisions and proposals of authorities, business and professional community.
I can provide an example. Nowadays one of the strategic directions of the Pskov region development is tourism. The tourist cluster establishment implies not only the accommodation business, social places development, land improvement, but also development of modern infrastructural elements. Of course task-oriented development of the tourist field cannot be provided in isolation, within the borders of only one region. That is why coordinated actions in this field of the different regions within the frameworks of the project implemented by the Committee on tourism of the Association North-West can guarantee successful implementation of the Concept on tourism development that was elaborated in the Pskov region.
A row of events held by the Association in connection with the 1150th anniversary of Russian statehood will foster the Pskov region’s attractiveness for tourists. The town of Izborsk situated in the Pskov region is connected directly with Russian statehood. That is why promotion of the North-West – the cradle of Russian statehood brand will with no doubt increase amount of tourists in the Pskov region.
As I have mentioned this is only one example of advantages of cooperation within the programmes initiated by the Association.
I would like to wish cooperation of the North-West regions in diverse spheres of social and economic development to have fruitful results. The Association North-West can and should play a leading role in this process.
